【題目】International Business Communication 2
【到達目標】This course aims to make students more aware of essential factors in business communication and how cross cultural differences can affect this communication. It also aims to give students the opportunity to decide how they would deal with cross cultural communication problems.
【講義内容】This is a seminar course for IMC students and students with a good level of English Language speaking, listening, reading and writing skills with TOEIC scores around 500. It is also for those who hope to work in an international organization where the use of English will be necessary.
Students will study essential factors involved in effective business communication and also a variety of intercultural business communication cases. This will enable them to make decisions about effective communication methods and to identify intercultural communication problems and solutions.
Class time will be spent understanding and discussing communication issues which will often be provided in the form of case study material. It will also be spent identifying appropriate strategies and techniques and presenting these to the class. There will be a significant amount of reading to be done before and after the classes and students will be expected to work in English at all times in groups and pairs. Class activities will depend on the knowledge and skills developed in previous classes. Consequently full student participation and attendance will be essential. Evaluation will be based on how well students participate in the classes and the quality of their work in written assignments and dealing with the issues encountered.
